Connecting utilities
When you have purchased your new property you will need to connect your utilities i.e. gas and electricity, and notify suppliers of your change of address. It is important to make sure you plan ahead of moving date to ensure uninterrupted service.
You may have to pay a connection fee, and show proof of identity when connecting services. If you are an existing customer you may be able to transfer your account details to your new property. You should also arrange for mail to be forwarded from your existing address to you new one, and re-arrange your newspaper deliveries.
Wesellrealestate.com.au essential checklist: :: Have you connected / disconnected the gas for your new and old property? :: Have you connected / disconnected the electricity for your new and old property? :: Have you connected / disconnected the phone for your new and old property? :: Have you arranged for mail forward from you old to your new address? :: Have you advised friends, family and organizations that send you mail of your new address? :: Have you changed your magazine or newspaper subscriptions to your new address?
Price guide - Dependent upon property location, as there are various suppliers in the area. De-regulation has increased competition so it pays to shop around.
We have provided a link to the Australia Post and Connect Now which have functions to help you connect and disconnect your utilities, as well as helpful checklists.
