Free concerts kick off with jazz

Posted: 01 December 2006

JAZZ and blues outfit The Wolfe Gang will take to Wodonga’s Stanley St tonight as the city kicks off its free Summer in the City concert series.

The second instalment of the series will utilise two city sites this season.

The Wolfe Gang will appear in the closed Stanley St between 6pm and 9pm.

“I would invite all members of the community to come down, bring their chairs and picnic blankets and enjoy a great night out,” Wodonga Mayor Lisa Mahood said.

Food outlets will be open and picnic hampers are welcome.

“This year we are rotating the concerts between Stanley St and Woodland Grove, two great venues which are just ideal for this type of outdoor entertainment,” Cr Mahood said.

The second concert in the series will feature gypsy trio Vardo at Woodland Grove on January 19.

This concert will be followed by Dadscrampy at Woodland Grove on February 16 then Tony Gardner’s Awesome Big Band at Stanley St on March 16.
