Web link tells story of a city
WODONGA council has made available detailed information about the city’s demographic and sociographic make-up through a connection to its website. Profile ID is designed to inform community groups, councils, investors, business, students and the general public about trends in the city. The program provides instant access to 2001, 1996 and 1991 Australian Bureau of Statistics data related to the region via tables and charts with concise commentary. Wodonga Mayor Lisa Mahood said the program provided a comprehensive profile of Wodonga including specific neighbourhood areas and analysis of trends, including age, home ownership, dwelling type and ethnicity. Cr Mahood said users would be able to compare Wodonga suburbs with other Wodonga neighbourhood areas, the city as a whole, Albury, and the wider region. Profile ID shows how neighbourhood areas have changed over time and provides details within each area of income, age, travel to work patterns and rent-home owner ratios. Cr Mahood said the information helped the council understand the types of people settling in the city. People wishing to access the information can to go wodonga. vic.gov.au/business/statistics/ demographics/index.htm. Source: The Border Mail
